Strangers Nexus is built around the principle of anonymity. We believe your conversations should remain private, and we have designed our platform to collect and store the absolute minimum amount of data necessary to provide the Service.
UUID (Unique User Identifier): When you first visit Strangers Nexus, a random UUID is generated and stored in your browser's localStorage. This identifier is used solely to maintain your friend list and session continuity. It is not linked to any personal information.
Chat Preferences: When you set preferences (age range, gender, interests, country) before starting a chat, these are used only for matching purposes and are not stored on our servers after the session ends.
IP Address: Your IP address is temporarily visible to our servers when you connect, as is standard with any internet service. We do not log or store IP addresses.
We want to be explicit about what we do not collect:
• We do not require or collect names, email addresses, or any registration information.
• We do not store chat messages, images, or voice messages on our servers.
• We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.
• We do not share any user data with third parties.
• We do not use analytics tools that track individual users.
All messages (text, images, and voice) are transmitted in real-time between connected users via WebSocket connections. Messages are not stored, logged, or recorded on our servers. Once a chat session ends, the message data exists only on the devices of the participants.
We use in-memory data structures on the server side only for active session management (matching, room tracking). These are cleared when sessions end or the server restarts.
Your friend list is stored entirely in your browser's localStorage under the key sn_friends. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's local storage.
Strangers Nexus uses the following third-party resources:
• Socket.IO — for real-time communication (no personal data shared).
• GeoJS — for auto-detecting your country for preference matching (IP address sent to GeoJS API; see their privacy policy at geojs.io).
• Lucide Icons — loaded from unpkg.com CDN for UI icons.
We do not use any advertising networks, tracking pixels, or social media tracking scripts.
We implement reasonable measures to protect the data transmitted through our Service, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/WSS). However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Because we collect minimal data and do not store personal information:
• You can clear your UUID and friend list at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage.
• No data deletion request is needed since we do not store your personal data on our servers.
• You can stop using the Service at any time without any obligation.
Strangers Nexus is a general-audience platform. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
